A book of the Starfleet Museum in now available.
A book version of the Starfleet Museum is now available for purchase at Lulu: www.lulu.com/shop/masao-okazak…

To keep the book as cheap as possible (and avoid a C&D order), neither I nor the great editor Dan Carlson is making any profit from this. All you pay will go to Lulu for printing and shipping.

The book's slightly limited from the full website (and doesn't include articles on USS Asia [designed by Bernd Schneider] and Furious and Spectre [my TOS movie era designs that I don't think were that good]), and CG images and ship patches are fewer and smaller. But we've tried to fix any errors and update the content. The book is 286 pages long, 8.5 x 11 inches, and weighs 2.45 pounds. It contains 56 articles (including introductions) that are pretty much of full length; 105,462 words; 169 CG scenes; 284 ship patches; 120 ship schematics, deck plans, and comparison charts; and 4 star maps. Most of images are smaller than on the site, but a few are as large as a page. Everything's in color.
Sorry I haven't posted on this site for a long time. (I did post some Minnesota flags, but I deleted them because they were terrible.) I blame my lazy brain, distraction by Netflix, and the amount of time I spend doing "real world" work. I also blame Adobe Systems Inc. for buying and executing my beloved Freehand drawing program. Illustrator still gives me a headache.
Starfleet ship chart
Dan Carlson has been working for a long time on an actual physical book (you know, made of paper!) of my Starfleet Museum website. Because I haven't gotten around to finishing articles about a few ships I've designed, he commanded me to redo the chart of all the Starfleet ships that will be included in the book. (There's a chart of pre-Starfleet ships on the site). This is the last thing that I had to do for the book, so it should be available as soon as a bit more artwork is prepared (by some other guy).

Is there a big difference between the site and the book in content?

The book doesn't have everything the site has, but the editor (Dan Carlson) tried to choose the best content. Probably what's most limited is CG scenes and patches. Articles on 3 ships weren't included: USS Asia, designed by Bernd Schneider, and 2 TOS-movie era ships I designed. Some works in progress were not included. Mistakes we found on the site have been fixed.  The editor tells me the book has 56 articles (including introductions); 105,462 words; 169 CG scenes; 284 patches; 120 ship schematics, deck plans, and comparison charts; and 4 star maps. Most of the CG images are smaller than on the site, but a few images are as large as a page. Everything's in color. We're not making any profit from the book, so everything you pay is going to Lulu so the price can be low.

Hey there. Big admirer of your work in the pre-TOS area of Trek history. Just a question - have you thought about doing ship designs of pre-warp Earth?

Although I grew up during the during the 1960s and was interested in the Space Race and 2001: A Space Odyssey, I've always designed warp ships rather than space ships. Probably has something to do with liking nacelles rather than rocket engines.
